These movies are badass:
Tropa de Elite is about being a straight cop in a corrupt society (Rio). Done by the same guy as City of God, which you should also see if you havent goddammit. Brazilian.
La Haine is about friends, riots, tough guy attitudes, track suits, and cops. Great flick. French.
Le Samourai is a hitman flick from '67. Slow but stready, beautifully shot, well worth the watch. Classic. French. Inspired John Woo who inspired RZA.
Oldboy. Not going to say anything but watch it. Korean.
Also, on an unrelated note, never, EVER, watch a movie called Southand Tales.
